Dry Diggings, a brand new festival experience from the California Roots Presents team is just a few weeks away. For those expecting the typical music festival, you will be pleasantly surprised by the unique style of this boutique festival. From the lush green setting of the El Dorado Fairgrounds to the curated activities through the weekend. The hand-picked vendors to the onsite camping, clearly music is only part of this festival experience.
Why the name Dry Diggings? The setting for this festival is in Placerville, CA a small town made famous during the gold rush. The town now known as Placerville was known as Dry Diggin’s after the manner in which the miners moved cartloads of dry soil to running water to separate the gold from the dirt. As you arrive into Placerville one of the first landmarks you will see is the historic fairgrounds.
The weather is forecasted for sunny and beautiful during the festival, perfect weather to enjoy a brew. Dry Diggings will feature beers from Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Altamont Beer Works, and Firestone Walker Brewing Company. IPA, Belgium White, Red…not sure what beer is right for you? For two hours on Saturday September 26 there will be free beer tastings. Yes, you read that right, come out and try a sampling from all the breweries. Don’t drink beer… No worries, there will be daily Mimosa Mornings and at evening Happy Hour there is a drink option for everyone.
Have you ever been frustrated because you purchased camping for a festival only to find out the campgrounds are miles away from the venue? The hassle of dealing with shuttles, missing acts, waiting on friends is not an issue at Dry Diggings. All camping will be onsite for this festival, first come first serve for camping and RV parking. Check-in will be on Friday September 25 from 8am-8pm. Make sure you purchase the correct ticket package if you plan to camp onsite. If camping is not your thing, there are a number of great hotels within close proximity to the fairgrounds.
Are you the ultimate cornhole master or beer pong champion? It’s time to show off your skills and enter one of tournaments that will be held over the weekend at Dry Diggings. Grab a friend and sign up to compete in the Panning for Gold Beer Pong Tournament, or the Dry Diggings Cornhole Tournament. If you want to complete please sign up to participate online at drydiggingsfestival.com
Have you ever taken the time to fill out the California Roots Survey after a festival? Did you ever write about one of your favorite food or merchant vendors? The team has gathered all of your input and has hand selected the vendors for this festival based on your feedback. Expect to see a variety of concessions that will accommodate vegan and gluten free options. There will also be the best in art, clothing and craft vendors.
Oh…and there is a musical component to this festival too. With two stages of music, Tribal Seeds and Collie Buddz are set to headline on Friday September 25 and Dirty Heads and Nahko and Medicine For The People will handle the honors for Saturday September 26. With 21 acts scheduled for the weekend there is something for everyone. One of the best parts of a California Roots Presents event is that you are almost guaranteed a special collaboration at some point during the festival. With a stacked lineup from early in the morning until very late into the evening you will not want to miss the inaugural Dry Diggings Festival. See you in Placerville.
